About the Role

NOW HIRING Event Service Technicians for 2022-2023 Seasonal positions (temporary): for Christmas On The Plaza, located at the MGM Casino in Springfield MA. Seeking candidates with strong leadership experience in managing or supervising a team in a fast paced working environment. In addition to hands on skills, the Event Service technician (Ice Mgr) should have business acumen, focused on the ability to maintain positive client relationships.



  • Must have experience in ice maintenance, ice resurfacing, skate sharpening, and mechanical skills.

  • Having knowledge of refrigeration is helpful.

  • Candidates will need to be self-motivated, have a strong sense of urgency, and possess the ability to meet deadlines.

  • High attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills are required.

  • Service Tech will be responsible for day-to-day ice maintenance, resurfacing, and following both CSE a and host reporting policies.

  • Having general carpentry skills and construction skills is a bonus.

  • Must have strong customer service, communication, written, and organizational skills.

  • Knowledge of the ice skating industry, rink operations, productions and/or competitions is preferred.

DUTIES: Responsibilities include eliminating safety hazards, reducing controllable expenses, and the day-to-day maintenance operations of a temporary ice skating surface.

  • Oversee the day-to-day maintenance operations.

  • Direct the Ice Maintenance Program

  • Delegate and assign responsibilities and goals to supervisors and staff.

  • Oversee rink equipment including; POS systems, lighting, audio, security, radios etc, and report deficiencies to the appropriate department contacts.


  • 1-2 years supervisory or operational management experience.

  • Recommended software efficiency in: Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint, and Dropbox knowledge.

  • High School Diploma or GED-equivalent required. College degree in a related field preferred.

  • Ability to work with various levels of management as well as working with other departments.

  • Highly organized and detail oriented, ability to multitask.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
